Jimi Agbaje Vows To Turn Lagos Waters To Money

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State for the 2019 governorship election, Mr Jimi Agbaje, has promised to look at other ways to boost the economy of the metropolis.

Speaking recently at the launch of his campaign, Mr Agbaje said he will look critically into his blue economy policy to make more money for the state. According to him, this he would do by making money out of what Lagos is massively blessed and surrounded with, lagoon, to create several job opportunities for residents.

“I have not jettisoned my blue economy agenda for Lagos. When I am elected as Governor of Lagos State by His grace, I will make efforts to commercialise our waters.

“There are several ways Lagos can make money from the abundance of water it is surrounded with. I will open the water transport system, which will boom the lifejacket manufacturing sector, boat-making sector, fishery and many others businesses that have connection with water.

“You can see that the blue economy has not been tapped into in Lagos State, but I promise to make this industry the next oil industry,” Mr Agbaje said while answering one of the questions asked by a journalist at the event.

On power generation, the PDP candidate said 1000 megawatts of electricity would be targeted in four years to muscle up and boost the economic fortune of the people. He said the plank of his health care programme would be built around health insurance schemes.

He also promised to restore the glory and standard of education in the state by providing more accessible to quality education as opposed to the current ineffective system. “I am running a believable administration and I am in the race for service not for self. They are in politics for themselves. “They have said that I am their ‘customer’. But I want to tell them that the customer is the king and he is always right.

“By March 2019, the rest will be history because thiselection will be decided by the people of Lagos who yearn for freedom, and notby political parties,” he told the enthusiastic supporters.Mr Agbaje also used the opportunity to introducehis deputy, Mrs Haleemat Oluyemisi Busari and promised that they would “carrythe load together” instead of the culture of making the deputy a “spare tyre”.

Mr Agbaje will contest for the Lagos State top job with candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Babajide Sanwoolu.

Google Classroom Activities and How it Works with Its Ultimate Benefit

Google Classroom Activities and How it Works with Benefit.

I believe this keyword ‘Google Classroom Activities‘ brought you here. Yeah, for real… Don’t panic, your visit to our weblog is never in vain.

Google Classroom

In this brief piece, i’ll quickly summarize, the major activities conducted in a Google Classroom and it’s full benefits to student. Stay tune.

Before, we get started… Let me quickly drive you through a brief insight about ‘Google Classroom‘ according to www.wikipedia.org.

Google Classroom is a free web service developed by Google for schools that aim to simplify creating, distributing and grading assignments in a paperless way. The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students.

Quick Tips on Google Classroom Activities.

Google Classroom allows you to create a unique class for every class that you teach. In just three mouse clicks and a few keystrokes you can create a class. Google Classrooms are divided into different sections… for the purpose of this article, I will cover Students and the Stream.

In the Students section you can view all the students in your class. You can either add students to your class manually, or they can join your class on their own using their own Google account. When you create a class, Google Classroom provides you with a class code located on the left side of the screen. Share that class code with the students you want to join that class. From their computers, laptops, or Chromebooks, students log into their Google accounts and use the class code to join.

Within the Student section you can also determine if your students are allowed to comment on the questions, announcements, and assignments you create or if they can only post. If you desire you can also choose to be the only one who can post and comment in your class.

In the Stream section you’ll find the assignments, announcements, and questions that you create. This is the section in which you’ll spend most of your time after your classes are set up. Read below to learn about assignments, questions, and announcements within Google Classroom.

Assignments are a great way to collect student work and provide your students with feedback and grades. When you create an assignment you can provide specific instructions for that assignment, a due date, and a topic. If you include a due date for the assignment, students will have until 11:59 PM on the date to submit their work for that assignment. If they submit the work late, Google Classroom still accepts the assignment, but indicates that it was turned in late.

One of the best features of the Google Classroom Assignments is that you can add files to the assignments you create. You can add a file from your computer, a file from Google Drive, a YouTube video, or a link to a Website. One idea is that a business education teacher can assign a writing prompt on a relevant person in the news and add a link to a YouTube video of that individual delivering a speech.

Students can submit any type of file to your Classroom, not just Google Docs. Not only can students submit their completed work as files, you can open them directly from Classroom and grade them right there. You can open files submitted to your Classroom as long as your computer has an Internet connection and the software needed to open the file… you don’t even have to be on your school computer!

For example, you can assign an essay and your students can submit their completed essays to an assignment you created in your Google Classroom from any computer that has an Internet connection. You can then open the file and grade it on your computer at school or at home. Google Classroom acts like a “Dropbox” for assignments. Students no longer need to print their work and physically hand it in to you. This gives you more time during class to focus on moving forward, as opposed to wasting time collecting work.

Google Classroom allows you to ask a question within a specific class. As with assignments you can add files to the questions you post, and can assign a due date to it if you want. You can post short answer or multiple choice questions for your students to respond to in Classroom.

As students answer a multiple choice question, Google Classroom tabulates the results for that question and shows you the breakdown of the students’ answers in real-time. When you click on one of the multiple choice answers, Classroom indicates which students chose that option.

When students respond to a short answer question, Google Classroom cannot tabulate the results so it simply shows student responses. At that point you can comment or reply to each student, and give a grade as you see fit.

Pro Tips for Using Questions:

  • Using the Questions feature is a great way to start a discussion in your classroom, acquire baseline information before starting a lesson, and test students’ knowledge on a homework reading assignment.
  • To provide variation, you can post a video in a question and instruct students to respond to the video at home.

In addition to creating assignments and questions, Google Classroom allows you to create announcements. Students can respond to your announcements and you can respond back, creating a thread. In reality the entire class can have a conversation based on one announcement. Once again you have the option of adding a file, a YouTube video, or a link to an announcement.

Announcements are a great way to post reminders about assignment due dates to your students. You can even schedule announcements to post at a later date, which can help you stay organized as well as your students.

I don’t have a homeroom so I don’t have many announcements, but I would imagine homeroom teachers can use the announcement feature to post reminders, permission forms for field trips, handouts in case students lose them or forget them in their lockers, the list goes on and on.

What I find the most compelling about Google Classroom is that it allows you to communicate better with your students outside of the classroom. Before Google Classroom students had to be physically in the classroom for you to ask them a question. Now you can do it anytime. Likewise students can submit work from anywhere they have internet access. This saves those of us who teach elective courses for middle school a lot of time when you think about how many students we can have during the school year!

Google Classroom saves you time and paper, and allows you to create classes, post assignments, and communicate with your students with ease. It also allows you to see which students have completed their assignments and you can provide direct, real-time feedback and grades. Google Classroom essentially puts all of your assignments, announcements, and student work right in one place.

No matter what subject you teach, Google Classroom is a great tool for sharing information with your students, collecting their work, and providing feedback. If you have a Google Account through your district, Classroom is just sitting there waiting to help you challenge and engage your students.

How to Use Google Classroom Effectively.

Here are 10 tips to help you use Google Classroom more effectively and efficiently:

1. Use move to top to bring important older material back to students’ attention.

This simple act bumps an assignment, announcement or question to the top of the class stream. Use this if students haven’t turned an assignment in OR if you want to remind them of an upcoming deadline.

2. Email everyone in a class in the “Students” tab.

Once you click the “Students” tab, click the checkbox above all of your students to highlight everyone. Click “Actions” and “Email.” This is great for calling special attention to something you want to communicate to students OR for longer-form communication.

3. Use the right kind of comment.

There are several kinds of comments you can leave students in Classroom. Knowing how each one works can make you more efficient and effective.

  • Adding class comments: Do this by adding a comment in your class stream on the “outside” of an assignment or announcement. This will make the comment visible to the entire class (important if it’s an answer to a question anyone might have).
  • Adding private comments: Do this by viewing student results and clicking on an individual student. On the right, where you can see student submissions, the comment bar at the bottom adds a comment that only the student can see (important if it has sensitive grade or feedback information).
  • Adding comments in a doc/slide/sheet/drawing: Do this by clicking on the student’s file that he/she submitted to you. Click the black speech bubble icon after highlighting something you’d like to comment on. This adds a a very pointed comment on specific items in student work (important to be very exact in feedback).

4. Use announcements to share “right now” links.

Announcements put content in your classroom stream without creating an assignment students must turn in. Use them to give students important links, docs/files and videos they’ll need right now. (If it’s a resource they’ll need often, add that resource to the “About” tab instead.)

5. Use the keyboard instead of the mouse.

Keyboard commands beat moving and clicking the mouse every time. The best one in Google Classroom: When entering grades, type the grade for a particular student’s assignment, then push the down key to get to the next student. Cycle through students with keystrokes instead of mouse clicks to save lots of time.

6. Reuse posts.

Don’t recreate assignments, announcements or questions that are similar to those you’ve already created. Click the “+” button in the bottom right and select “reuse post.” Choose an assignment, announcement or question you’ve created before. You can modify and update it before you repost it.

  • When you reuse a post, you can even choose to create new copies of all the attachments you used before.

7. Grade everything in one place.

Click the three lines button in the top left of Classroom and select “Work” at the top. Here, you’ll find all of the assignments for all of your classes in one place. Work your way down the list and get on top of everything in one spot.

8. Get email from Classroom the way you want.

Do you spend too much time deleting email notifications from Classroom and wish you could turn them off? Click the three lines button in the top left of Classroom and choose “Settings” at the bottom. There’s a checkbox where you can turn off emial notifications. (Or if you have it turned off and wish you’d get emails, that’s where you turn them on!)

9. Get ideas from others.

Educators that are already using Google Classroom hang out in lots of online communities where you can read their posts and ask questions.

10. Get the features you really want in Classroom.

Do you have a suggestion for a new Google Classroom feature? Is there something you can do but wish you could do it easier? This type of feedback is what the Google Classroom team craves from teachers. Click the “?” button in the bottom left of the screen and choose “Send Feedback.” According to the Google Classroom team member that talked to my Google Teacher Academy group in December 2014, someone from their team reads every single feedback item sent that way.

Breaking! Buhari Gives Wife, Aisha Juicy Appointment

Muhammadu Buhari, Monday appointed his wife, Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari as member of Presidential Advisory Committee on the Elimination of Drug Abuse.

The Committee has the former Military Administration of Lagos, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, retd, as its chairman.

President Buhari also inaugurated the Ministerial Steering Committee which is headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha.

Inaugurating the two committees at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the President called for collective action to help those enslaved by drugs build a new life.

He noted that the challenges associated with drug abuse had grown to become a major public health problem in the country, lamenting that Nigeria, hitherto considered as a transit nation for illicit drugs before 2013 had now been internationally recognized as a user nation.

President Buhari recalled the disheartening statistics of several reports including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency which revealed that about three million codeine syrups bottles were consumed daily in Kano and twice that amount in the North-West region of Nigeria alone.

According to him, “This is a situation of emergency and we must face and address it as such.”

He said that use and abuse of drugs by adolescents have become one of the most disturbing health related phenomena in Nigeria and other parts of the world.

He said said that in many schools and growing adolescents experience mental health issues, either temporarily or for a long period of time, while some become insane, cannot remain in schools and eventually drop out.

“Drug and alcohol abuse are also major occupational hazards among Nigerian workers, professionals, notably drivers, which contribute to making Nigerian roads particularly dangerous. The drugs that are commonly abused include but not limited to alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine, Tramadol, codeine, etc.

“Today marks the beginning of another milestone in correcting the root cause of some of the ills of today’s society in order to safeguard our common existence and guarantee a brighter future for our current generation and those yet on born.

“The role is specifically targeted at decimating the disastrous havoc that drug abuse could cause on the very fabric of our society.’’

President Buhari commended his wife for demonstrating passion and commitment to the cause by galvanizing the participation of First Ladies from the states through the Governors’ Wives Forum in conducting an assessment of the challenge in their respective domains, with the view to proffering measures to combat the menace.

He said, “The appointment of the wives of the President and the Vice-President as well as the Chairpersons of the North and South Governors’ Wives Forum as members of this committee is in recognition of their concerted efforts to the course of eradicating the menace of drug abuse from our society.

“Additionally, the participation of the First Ladies is meant to spur further involvement of women and mothers in particular, in view of the significant role they play in parenting and care.

“It is therefore expected that Governors’ Wives across the federation will take the lead in replicating this intervention structure at the states and local government levels,’’ he added.

He stated that the presidential structure at the federal level would facilitate implementation of government’s programmes and projects for effective delivery of policies, while a third level structure was proposed for the States, given the national spread of the malaise and the need for quick action at the root of the scourge.

Buhari revealed that the State Implementation Committee (SIC) would be established in all states of the federation to complement federal government’s efforts nationwide.

Members of the Presidential Advisory Committee include Wives of the President and the Vice-President, representatives of Governors’ Wives Forum (North and South), Nigeria Custom Service, NAFDAC, NDLEA, Police and others.

The ministerial steering is charged with the responsibilities of integrating drug abuse issue into extant government policies and new initiatives and provide strategic direction and guidance on drug issues.

It is also to serve as a linkage between the federal government and other entities; synchronize and translate government policies into implementation plan and promote necessary executive/legislative actions.

In his remarks, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha described drug abuse epidemic as “a national emergency that calls for concerted and collaborative actions by all tiers of government, Non-Governmental Organisations, Development Partners, Civil Society Organisations and religious and traditional leaders.’’

He warned that the menace if not tackled expeditiously and firmly, would in the long term, be more dangerous than any other challenges facing the nation, including the insurgency.

He said, “We are now faced with a situation where multiple generations of the same family have become victims.”

Your Candidate Will Be Defeated In 2019 – Lai Mohammed To Obasanjo

Obasanjo Latest Photo

The Federal Government says though it is the constitutional right of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo to support a candidate for an election, his endorsement, however, does not guarantee victory.

Obasanjo Latest Photo

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who spoke on behalf of the government on Monday in Abuja, said Obasanjo’s candidate for the presidential election “will be defeated roundly and comprehensively’’.

“With due respect to former President Obasanjo, it is his constitutional right to support any candidate of his choice and we urge him to go out and campaign vigorously for any candidate he wants to support.

“He has not hidden his preference for the PDP candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and we wish him very best of luck.

“However, I want to assure you that his candidate will be defeated roundly and comprehensively. It is not about the endorsement, the endorsement does not win election,’’ he said.

The minister also responded to a statement credited to the former President that, “only a fool will sit on the fence when his or her country is being destroyed with incompetence, corruption lack of focus, insecurity nepotism and brazen impunity’’.

Mohammed said he held Obasanjo in high esteem and probably he was not properly briefed on the development in the country to have made such conclusions.

“The facts are all there that this government has done more than any other governments in three and half years.

On corruption, the minister said that the government had put in place institution reforms which had confirmed its sincerity and commitment to fighting the menace.

“It is not about putting people in Jail but what are the things put in place to address this endemic problem.

“Take the example of Treasury Single Account TSA, which was not initiated by this government. It is only the Buhari administration that has the political will to implement it.

“Before we came in, there were over 22,000 government accounts in various banks.

“Since we came, we reduced it to one account and from 2015 to date N8.9 trillion has passed through the TSA which is as a result of transparency and accountability,’’ he said.

The minister said that even with lean resources, the Buhari administration had spent more on infrastructure than the 16 years of the PDP administrations.

He said there was no state in the country without one or two infrastructure development being embarked upon by the federal government.

The minister said the Administration had commissioned the Abuja to Kaduna standard rail guage while the 156 km Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge would be ready for commissioning in March next year.

Also on Infrastructure, he said the government had made fund available for five critical infrastructure projects including the Mambila power project, the East-West Road, the second Niger bridge, the Abuja – Kano and Abuja-Lokoja-Okenne highways.

Mohammed said the efforts of the administration in diversifying the economy away from oil had yielded fruits with achievement recorded in agriculture, particularly in rice production and solid mineral sectors.

On power supply, the minister said the administration had improved on generation, transmission and distribution than it met them in 2015, while Nigerians are benefiting from its numerous social investment programmes.

The couple who were caught having a romp in a car in the residential area, parked their vehicle in a deserted area along the street. Residents of the area who were mad at the couple for bringing their private affair to their neighbourhood rather than get a room, shamed the couple.

Though Facebook user John did not give the exact location of the incident, however it was gathered that the couple were sent away after they were embarrassed. While some social media users supported the move by residents of the area, others maintained that the couple did nothing wrong and shouldn’t have been shamed since they are both adults.
